An XS650 Story
Hi. That's me. I'm sitting on my current project...a '78 Yamaha XS 650. I started building this bike a year ago and it's still in the works. A friend of mine by the name of Ray Oliver (who's really into XS's) had this spare frame laying around. He gave me the frame which had a nice set of front forks already on it. Then I bought a donor bike (a '77 xs650), also with some extra parts - extra forks and front wheel. With Ray's frame to experiment on, I started chopping. I cut off the rear of the frame, replaced it with a hard tail, and stretched it 4". I have pictures of the process here. I'm currently making up a set of forward controls, fitting a tank, widening the rear fender, and making up a set of bars for it.
